Lottofy Exposed — Are You Being Misled?
Lottofy Review
Who would you turn to when you need information about an online lottery agency? That’s right – we’re the team for the job. And since we came across Lottofy recently, we decided to check out their services and compare them to others.
The Lottofy website is bright and colorful without being overly distracting. The website offers a solution similar to many others – a chance to buy lottery tickets for games that may be carried out in a country that you’re not a citizen of.
Such services, however, come with their cost, convenience, and complications. Today, we will take a look at all three of those (and at some additional things) to determine if lottofy.com is legit and worth giving a try.
Games at Lottofy.com
Let’s start with the game selection first.
Lottofy allows players to buy tickets for some of the most popular international lotteries. The selection right now consists of 13 international lotteries – Powerball and Mega Millions from the US, EuroMillions, SuperLotto, Bonoloto, La Primitiva, El Gordo, Quiniela, National Lottery from Spain, Lotto 6 Aus 49, Eurojackpot, Superenalotto, and Mega Sena.
For each of these games, you can decide whether you will buy an individual ticket if you participate in a betting fund or a syndicate.
Here’s how a single ticket’s price compares to the actual cost of getting the lucky payslip in the respective country. Let’s take Lotto 6 Aus 49 from Germany as an example. In the country, a ticket will cost you 1.20 Euros. If you buy an individual ticket through Lottofy.com, you’ll have to spend the same amount. Now, that’s a nice surprise!
Since we haven’t come across such a pricing policy before, we checked out Megasena as a second example. If you buy it on your own, the ticket will cost you 1.5 Euros. Through Lottofy, the cost of one ticket is the same. Wow! Where’s the catch?
As far as we could tell, there isn’t one. There are bundles and additional ticket-buying opportunities that prove to be even more affordable than individual tickets.
Are you feeling lucky? Well, you should be, because Lottofy has an exclusive offer that you won’t want to miss! For a limited time only, when you buy one bet, you’ll get not one, not two, but THREE bets instead!
Lottofy and Claiming Your Prizes
Going through the terms and conditions, it becomes clear that Lottofy offers two kinds of services. One of them is betting against the lottery results and not actually buying a ticket for it. In the second case, you can get a real ticket that will be purchased by Lottofy on your behalf.
When we went through the website’s interface, we tried to buy a ticket, however, we couldn’t really distinguish between one and the other. It was also difficult to tell if both of these possibilities are offered or if the terms and conditions describe all possible scenarios.
Looking further down in the terms and conditions, this is what we came across:
“We operate as a bookmaker that allows you to place bets on the result of Lotteries Origin of different jurisdictions. To pay out all winnings of successful bets, we do so through our own funds, or we can contract financial instruments (such as insurance policies) to cover the payouts, the Grand Prizes.”
So this is why ticket prices are so affordable! Lottofy is NOT buying a ticket for you, regardless of the fact it seems this way. The price policy is probably chosen to mislead people into believing they are getting an affordable way to buy international lottery tickets with zero commission or fee.
The terms and conditions also state that Lottofy MAY buy an actual ticket in some cases. What those cases are, however, it’s not pretty clear.
Now that we have clarity on this issue, we can move forward to the topic of claiming prizes on Lottofy.
Prize claim procedures are pretty standard and straightforward. Anything you’ve won (from a prize pool, apparently) will show up in your account balance. It’s up to you to decide next whether you’re going to withdraw the money or keep on buying additional “tickets.”
Who Can Play at Lottofy.com?
Apparently, half of the world’s population cannot use the services of Lottofy.
The infamous terms and conditions once again shed light on the situation.
The list of countries excluded from the Lottofy services features 41 nations. We’re not kidding! You can check the list on their website. Chances are, however, that you live in a place that the Lottofy team refuses to service.
Is Lottofy Legit and Who’s Behind It?
The way the service is worded and described screams scam but is this really so? Essentially, Lottofy isn’t doing anything illegal. They have the right to offer betting instead of ticket buying services. The fact that they’re not transparent about it, however, is really infuriating.
It’s also another reason you should always read the terms and conditions before giving your money to anyone.
So, who’s behind the project?
According to the Lottofy website, the entity that operates the website is called Clobet Limited. The company is registered in Malta, and the Malta Gaming Authority regulates it. A phone number, chat, and email customer service options are provided. You can use these to get in touch with the team and get some additional answers about Lottofy.
We did try to learn a bit more about Clobet Ltd. The company has a website stating that Lottofy is the company’s only product (and it’s being described as “the new lottery service generation” … we don’t really know about that).
Other Bits and Pieces
Lottofy’s website has syndicates and pools but is there really a point in discussing such services when the company isn’t exactly being honest about what it does? These syndicates wouldn’t give you a chance to play some of the biggest US and European lotteries.
We attempted to find Lottofy reviews written by actual users of the service.
The platform has a Facebook page, but the community is absolutely empty while the review option is enabled. There are no publications by the Lottofy team and also no followers. That’s probably normal since the Lottofy Maltese license was issued in October 2020. Hence, the platform is pretty new, and it probably hasn’t been used by that many people. It also seems that Lottofy hasn’t done heavy-duty marketing campaigns to popularize the services yet.
Other than that, we didn’t find anything else troubling in the terms and conditions and the other documentation on the website. There’s a complex calculation of how prizes are calculated and what’s being paid out to players. Do look at these stipulations. They’re very important and will help you decide if you want to sign up at all.
Why You Should Register with Lottofy
Pros:
A registered and regulated entity operates the website
Ticket prices are reasonable
A good selection of international lotteries
Players can participate in syndicates
A straightforward prize claim procedure
Why You Shouldn’t Register with Lottofy
Cons:
Lottofy isn’t buying tickets on your behalf; it’s letting you bet on results
This information isn’t presented loud and clear on the website’s homepage
People from 41 countries are blocked from using the Lottofy services
Is Lottofy Legit?
What started as a platform we perceived as great, quickly downgraded into something else. Lottofy is not exactly honest with its potential clients. Think twice about giving your money to someone manipulative in this way.
To end the review, let’s summarize the pros and cons of using Lottofy.
Should you use Lottofy? That’s really up to you. If you’re looking for a legitimate and cost-efficient way to buy tickets for your favorite international lotteries, this isn’t it.
