Prepare to Get Chills!
Every once in a while you run across a story that restores your faith in humanity. One that makes you feel the chills of someone practicing the act of giving to someone in need. That’s what happened to an incredibly grateful homeless lottery winner after a man named Rahat, a prominent YouTube video blogger, gave him ‘winning lottery ticket.’
Rahat had seen the man hanging out outside of a convenience store, and people had mentioned continuously that the man was an amiable and nice guy. So instead of simply giving the man money, Rahat decided to provide the man with what he said was a winning lottery ticket.
The man agreed to take the ticket, and the two of them went into the store to find out if it was a winner. What the homeless man didn’t know was that Rahat had already arranged with the clerk in the convenience store to say that the ticket was worth $1,000 and then pay out that money to the homeless man.

The most heartwarming part of the story wasn’t the fact that Rahat made the man a homeless lottery winner, but instead the emotions of the man and what he tried to do with the winnings.
“I want to share it, my friend, I would like to share it with you big guy,” said the man as he tried to give a portion of the money back to Rahat. Rahat refused to accept the money and instead proclaimed that he’d earned it and that it was his to keep. As the homeless lottery winner broke into tears, the two embraced and shared a hug that’s sure to give you the chills.
The man continues to sob and thank Rahat for his kindness, saying, “I’ve been doing this for a long time, long time and I ain’t never, never had a friend do something like you just did back there.”
The gratefulness shown by the man is undoubtedly a testament to the type of joy that we have the opportunity to instill in other people. Maybe you don’t have $1,000 to give to someone else in need, but know that giving anything – whether it be time or money – could bring an incredible amount of happiness to both you and the less fortunate recipient.
Pledge to pay it forward in your life and reap the rewards that come from giving.
